Anyanwu Not Challenging Expulsion From PDP- Wike-led Faction

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, said the appeal filed by Senator Samuel Anyanwu at the Court of Appeal was not against his expulsion from the party but the competence and proceedings of Chief Tom Ikimj-led National Disciplinary Committee.

The party, in a statement by National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, noted that the Ikimi committee merely recommended a suspension.

“This recommendation was never considered, adopted, or ratified by either the National Working Committee (NWC) or the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party. As such, it had no binding effect, and no valid suspension existed at any time,” the statement added.

It claimed that the committee’s recommendations had long been “jettisoned” by the party’s leadership after it was determined that the committee was constituted in violation of Chapter 10, Article 57(1) of the party’s constitution.

“Accordingly, there was no valid or effective suspension at any time.”

According to Mohammed, the judgment of the FCT High Court delivered by Justice Halilu in January 2026 did not affirm any suspension, as that was never the issue before the court.

He alleged that the court dismissed the suit in its entirety for lack of jurisdiction, “having ruled that disciplinary matters are internal affairs of the party and therefore not justiciable.”

The spokesperson disclosed that Senator Anyanwu’s appeal, filed on April 10, 2026, is no longer necessary and would be withdrawn.

He further argued that the Abuja National Convention held on March 29 and 30, 2026, was conducted in line with the valid judgments of both the

High Court and the Court of Appeal, and was duly monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
