President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday secured a landslide victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election held at Ward 09, Okemeta, in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Mobilised by the State Commissioner for Finance and Budget Planning, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru, President Tinubu polled 1, 2o5 votes in Ward 9.
The primary exercise, which took place across political wards nationwide, required all registered party members to return to their respective wards to cast ballots for the APC’s presidential candidate.
Kogi State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA, participated in the exercise alongside Hon. T.J. Faniyi. Both officials joined party members at Ward 09, Okemeta, to exercise their franchise.
At the conclusion of voting and collation, President Tinubu was declared the overwhelming winner in the ward with 1,205 votes.
Addressing party members after the exercise, Asiru Idris commended the turnout, praising members for what he described as their “unwavering commitment to the unity, stability, and continued growth of the party.”
The Commissioner also used the occasion to highlight key initiatives under President Tinubu’s administration. He cited the student loan program, ongoing infrastructural projects, improved foreign exchange stability, and reforms in the finance sector and other areas of the economy as evidence of the administration’s performance.
“These achievements clearly justify the need for the President to continue in office,” Asiru Idris said.
In a further show of support, the Commissioner made an additional contribution to the party’s logistics fund, raising the total to ₦5,000,000. The donation, he said, was intended to ease transportation challenges faced by party members during the exercise.
The APC ward primary is part of the party’s internal process to affirm its presidential candidate ahead of the general election.
