Abia Completes New State Master Plan, Surpasses 24 Yrs C Of O Record

In just three years, the administration of Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has issued more Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) than the previous 24 years put together.

This is as the government announced the completion of a new master plan for Abia State.

Governor Otti revealed the milestone achieved in the area of lands and the ease of doing business in the last three years during the monthly Media chat, saying, “In the area of lands and public buildings, as of yesterday, 4,707 Certificates of Occupancy have been signed.

“Information available to me, that number is more than the total number of certificates of occupancy signed between 1999 and 2023.

“We also have completed the new Abia Master Plan. It will be launched any moment from now.”

According to the Governor, the State government has worked with the UN Habitat in the digitisation of land records resulting in four million documents being scanned into the system.

He said the transportation sector, where electric buses were introduced, has recorded huge success with over 26,000 passengers in two months of its formal launch and assured that another set of 20 electric buses would come into the State by July.

He affirmed that the ultra modern new bus terminal in Umuahia would be commissioned on the 27th of this month with installed charging stations to complement the modern bus shelters.

Government, he disclosed, has recorded and identified assets allegedly acquired illegally as part of ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening accountability and transparency in governance.

The Governor assured that he would continue to work for the restoration of the dignity of Abia people adding, “The most important part of this administration is the impact it has made in human capital development, infrastructure renewal, fiscal responsibility, social justice, all wrapped up in restoring the dignity of our people.”

He invited the people to be part of the activities mapped out for the 3rd anniversary which commenced on Sunday with Interdenom‍‍‌inat‌ional Thanksgiving Service, at the Tra‌demo‌r‌e Co‍mpl‍ex by Okpa‍ra Square.

Other activities lined up for the event, include Speci‍al Anniversary Executive Counc‌il Me‍eting on Monday, with projects commissioning and flag off for the rest of the week.
