…demand fresh conduct of the election
A female aspirant under the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for Doma South constituency, Mrs Ebu Onyawoyi-Beauty, has rejected the outcome of the party’s primary election result, which declared the incumbent lawmaker, Musa Ibrahim, as the winner.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday in Lafia, Onyawoyi-Beauty alleged that the primary election in the constituency did not hold anywhere in the constituency, saying the result, which was declared, did not reflect the will of APC members in Doma South.
She alleged that the process was marred by procedural breaches and called on the leadership of the party to investigate the matter and ensure that justice was done.
Onyawoyi-Beautu said, “I participated in the primaries with the hope of a free and fair contest, but unfortunately, election materials were not taken to the constituency at all, and the fabricated results were announced with the incumbent as the winner.”
She urged party stakeholders and the APC Primaries Election Committee to review the process and address her grievances before the matter escalates.
The aspirant called on the state chairman of APC, Dr Aliyu Bello, the state governor, Abdullahi Sule, the National chairman of APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, and women’s groups to intervene with a view to ensuring fairness and justice for her.
“All I want is that the party should conduct a free, fair and credible primary election in our constituency under strict supervision, and I can assure you that the people will vote for me.
“I have made a serious impact in the lives of my people in terms of facilitating employment, empowerment for women and youths, among others, so my people know what I can do,” she added.
The returning officer, Musa Abubakar -Imam, had announced the incumbent member, Musa Ibrahim, as the winner of the election.
Abubakar declared that Musa Ibrahim polled 4, 253 votes to defeat Onyawoyi-Beauty, Bartholomew Ochekpe and Bello Akoza, who secured 275 votes, 368 votes and 642 votes, respectively
