Former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has said the threat by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to revoke the license of Rainbow Event Centre for allowing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to hold its National Convention is an abuse of public office.
Atiku, in a statement on Facebook, added that coercing a private business owner to deny a lawfully registered opposition party the use of a venue is not governance but tranny.
“It is not politics. It is the naked conduct of a regime that has lost the argument, lost the people, and now reaches for the boot because it has nothing else left,” he stated.
The former vice president said the ADC is going ahead with the convention, having paid every fee and signed the contract with the owners of the event centre.
He noted that the party has broken no law and warned that the actions of the Federal Government could lead to the strangulation of the nation’s democracy when opposition parties are denied free assembly, and the people are not allowed to choose their own leaders.
“Our only offence is that we are organising, we are growing, and we are preparing to retire this failed government at the ballot box in 2027,” he stated.
Atiku, however, said the ADC would not be intimidated or silenced and would not bow to tranny.
He called on the international community and every democratic partner of Nigeria to take note of what is being done in the country.
“The convention will hold. The ADC will rise. And Nigeria will rise with it,” Atiku declared.
