3 Principal Officers, 9 Lagos Assembly Members Fail APC

Three principal officers of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Noheem Adams (Majority Leader), Hon. Fatai Mojeed (Chief Whip), and Hon. Setonji David (Deputy Chief Whip), were among the 12 lawmakers who failed to secure return tickets in the just-concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries elections.

Apart from the three principal officers, nine other lawmakers also missed out on the party’s final list of successful candidates.

Among them are Desmond Elliot (Surulere Constituency I) and Gbolahan Ogunleye (Ikorodu Constituency I), son of former Deputy Governor and Governance Advisory Council (GAC) member, Pa Abiodun Ogunleye.

Others who did not make the list include Lanre Afini (Lagos Island I), Stephen Ogundipe (Oshodi/Isolo I), Obafemi Saheed (Kosofe II), Bonu Solomon (Badagry II), Emmanuel Oloto (Ifako-Ijaiye II), and Jubreel Abdulkareem (Agege II).

Lawmakers who secured return tickets in the primaries include Gbolahan Yishawu (Eti-Osa I), Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda, Abiodun Tobun (Epe I), Sylvester Ogunkelu (Epe II), Temitope Adedeji (Ifako-Ijaiye I), Ladi Ajomale (Oshodi/Isolo II), Suraju Tijani (Ojo II), Ege Olusegun (Ojo I), and Age-Sulaimon Wale Rauf (Amuwo-Odofin II), among others.

Meanwhile, candidates reportedly backed by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, in both Agege I and Agege II, lost their bids. Gbenga Abiola Agbelebu emerged victorious in Agege I, while Sule Shakiru Akindele won the ticket for Agege II.

However, Obasa and the lawmaker representing Surulere 2, Mosunmola Sangodara, did not seek re-election into the House.
