Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, 2023 Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate and African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship hopeful for Lagos State, has assured supporters of the Obidient movement that their loyalty and sacrifices would never be taken for granted.
This is as he urged the movement to give him time amid criticism over his decision to remain in the ADC instead of joining the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).
Rhode-Vivour gave this assurance while addressing members of the movement for their continued support for himself, Peter Obi, and Nigeria’s broader democratic aspirations.
He acknowledged the dedication shown by supporters during the 2023 elections, describing their commitment as invaluable, urging patience and trust regarding recent political developments.
“Thank you sincerely for your love and unwavering support — not just for me, but for the movement, for H.E. Peter Obi, and for Nigeria as a whole.

“Please know that I will never take the support of Obidients for granted. The energy, sacrifice, passion, and commitment you all showed in 2023 remain deeply appreciated, and I will continue to be grateful for every effort made.
“I understand the concerns, emotions, and questions many people have at this moment. I truly do. But I ask for a little patience and trust. There is so much I wish I could openly explain now, but leadership sometimes requires seeing beyond the present moment,” he stated.
Reflecting on his decision to align with the Labour Party in 2022, he recalled how critics doubted the move at the time.
“I remember clearly when many PDP supporters mocked and ridiculed me for leaving the party for LP in 2022. We all know how that story eventually unfolded,” Rhodes-Vivour said.
He appealed to supporters to remain steadfast, expressing confidence that the movement would emerge stronger ahead of the 2027 elections.
“So once again, I ask that you hold on till the end of the month. I strongly believe that by the end of 2027, we will be in a stronger and better position than we were in 2023,” he stated.
Rhodes-Vivour also thanked supporters who participated in a lengthy online discussion with him.
“Thank you to every Obidient who has reached out, and especially to those who spent over five hours listening and engaging with me during yesterday’s Spaces conversation. Your commitment and belief mean a lot,” he added.
