Personnel Welfare Guarantees Operational Effectiveness

The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, has said that personnel welfare strengthens operational effectiveness.

The Naval Chief made the position on Tuesday during the groundbreaking and the commissioning of several developmental projects in Abuja.

In his remarks, the CNS said this: “Collectively, these projects represent another significant milestone in our deliberate efforts to improve personnel welfare, strengthen institutional capacity and enhance the operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Navy.”

He further highlighted that: “The groundbreaking ceremony for the Nigerian Navy Hospital Asokoro is particularly significant to me because it represents one of the first major infrastructure projects being initiated under my leadership as Chief of the Naval Staff and is a project that is very dear to my heart.

“This is because the welfare of our personnel extends beyond accommodation and working conditions to the quality of healthcare available to them and their families.

“It is therefore gratifying that we are commencing the development of what is envisioned to be a state-of-the-art medical facility equipped with modern diagnostic, treatment and specialist care capabilities.”

He added that: “Upon completion, the hospital is expected to provide advanced healthcare services capable of managing many serious medical conditions for which Nigerians often seek treatment abroad.

“Beyond improving healthcare access for naval personnel and their dependants, the facility will contribute meaningfully to healthcare delivery within the Federal Capital Territory and its environs.

“The accompanying tree-planting exercise equally symbolises our commitment to environmental sustainability and the creation of a healthy and conducive environment for future generations.

“As we break ground for this landmark healthcare project, we are also celebrating the successful completion of several critical infrastructure projects designed to enhance the welfare, productivity and operational effectiveness of our personnel.”
