The Osun Amotekun Corps has reassured residents of Osun State of adequate security arrangements ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, urging citizens to celebrate peacefully without fear of harassment, intimidation, or security threats.
The assurance was contained in a statement issued in Osogbo by the Corps Commander, Chief Adekunle Isaac Omoyele through the Public Relations Officer of the Corps, CSA Yusuf Idowu Abass.
According to the statement, the corps has put in place comprehensive security measures across the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration for all residents and visitors.
Omoyele disclosed that operatives of the Osun Amotekun Corps have been strategically deployed to various locations across the state, including worship centres, markets, motor parks, major highways, recreational centres, and other critical points, to maintain law and order throughout the festive period.
He stated that the corps remains fully committed to the protection of lives and property and will continue to work closely with other security agencies to strengthen security surveillance across all local government areas in the state.
The statement further urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security operatives by providing useful and timely information that could help prevent criminal activities. Citizens were also encouraged to report any suspicious movement or security concern to the nearest Amotekun office or other relevant security agencies.
While congratulating Muslim faithful on the occasion of the Eid-el-Adha celebration, the Corps Commander advised residents to celebrate responsibly and avoid actions capable of causing unrest or disrupting public peace.
He warned criminal elements and individuals planning to foment trouble during the celebration to stay away from Osun State, stressing that the corps would not tolerate any act capable of threatening the peace and security currently enjoyed in the state.
According to him, anyone found engaging in criminal activities, violence, cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping, or any form of breach of public peace will be apprehended and made to face the full wrath of the law.
The Osun Amotekun Corps reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring the safety of all residents before, during, and after the Eid-el-Adha festivities, while wishing Muslim faithful a peaceful, joyous, and memorable celebration.
