Galatasaray took a major step towards another league title with a commanding 3-0 victory over rivals Fenerbahce in a heated Istanbul derby on Sunday, inspired by a standout performance from Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian striker marked his return from injury by opening the scoring in the 40th minute, finishing from close range after Galatasaray had grown into the contest following a tense start.

Early drama saw both sides involved in a confrontation within the opening 10 minutes, while Fenerbahce missed a golden opportunity to take the lead when Anderson Talisca fired a penalty wide in the 13th minute.

Lucas Torreira then sealed the emphatic win with a late third goal in the 83rd minute.

The victory extends Galatasaray’s lead at the top of the Turkish Super Lig to seven points over Fenerbahce with four matches remaining, leaving them firmly on course to secure a fourth consecutive league title.
