…Renders Kpaduma 3 families homeless

The Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) has called for urgent federal and public intervention after a devastating fire tore through Kpaduma 3, Asokoro Village, Abuja, leaving families homeless and traumatised.

According to a statement on Sunday by the Coalition, the blaze erupted around 4:00 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2026. It spread fast and swallowed the entire building before 5:30 a.m.

By the time firefighters arrived, nothing was left to save.

CONYL described the losses as “heartbreaking and unacceptable.” The coalition said the disaster exposes dangerous gaps in emergency response and citizen protection.

“Victims lost everything overnight. Lois Davis saw over ₦7 million in property go up in flames. Eunice Davis lost ₦5 million. Justina Anthony lost ₦3 million. Mr and Mrs Chibuzor lost goods worth ₦4.5 million. Godfrey Kingsley lost ₦4 million. Several other residents also lost homes and livelihoods.

“Today, they are homeless, traumatised, and starting from zero,” the group lamented.

Consequently, CONYL is now pressing President Bola Tinubu, the Federal Government, the FCT Administration, and all emergency agencies to act fast. The group wants relief materials, temporary shelter, and direct financial aid delivered immediately.

The coalition also appealed to Nigerians, corporate bodies, and NGOs: “This is a moment for compassion and swift action. Help these families rebuild.”

CONYL further demanded a full investigation into the fire’s cause. Authorities must fix response systems to stop the next tragedy, the group said.

“We stand with the victims,” said Comrade Goodluck Ibem, CONYL President General. “Their plight will not be ignored.”
