‘Colours Of Fire’ Wins Best Costume Design


Cinematic Nollywood movie, “Colours Of Fire”, has emerged victorious in the Best Costume Design category at the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), with costume designer Valerie Okeke taking home the prestigious award.

Valerie Okeke’s work stood out among a strong lineup of nominees celebrated for creativity and artistic excellence in film and television production.

Other nominees in the category included Mary Chukwuma for The Serpent’s Gift, as well as Deola Art Alade and Darey Art Alade for their work on The Real Housewives of Lagos.

Saturday Telegraph reports that the win recognised the film’s impressive visual styling and detailed wardrobe execution, which played a major role in bringing its characters and storytelling to life on screen.

Also nominated were Yolanda Okereke for Something About The Briggs and the duo of Ikechukwu Urum and John Joseph Angel for To Kill A Monkey.

The AMVCA continues to celebrate outstanding achievements across African film and television, with costume design remaining one of the most competitive creative categories due to its importance in shaping cinematic identity and storytelling.

Okeke’s triumph adds another milestone to the growing recognition of behind-the-scenes talents driving the success of African productions on the global stage.
