A coalition of concerned youths and women in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to urgently intervene in what it described as a looming political collapse of the party in the area.

In an open letter issued on Friday during a press conference at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Bauchi, the leader of the group, Safiyanu Muhammad Tama, said the APC was gradually losing its grassroots support base in Toro due to unresolved political grievances and alleged neglect of loyal stakeholders.

The group identified the withdrawal of Senator Shehu Buba from the political contest and the denial of the senatorial ticket to Dr Ibrahim Ali Usman as major developments fueling frustration among supporters.

According to the statement, Toro LGA has historically remained one of the strongest APC strongholds in Bauchi State, with youths and women playing key roles in sustaining the party through elections and grassroots mobilisation.

The coalition, however, warned that growing dissatisfaction among supporters could trigger mass defections if urgent reconciliation efforts were not initiated.

It described Dr Ibrahim Ali Usman as a committed party loyalist who had contributed significantly to the growth of the APC through financial support, empowerment initiatives, scholarships, humanitarian services, and community projects.

“At a time when key political actors are leaving the party, it would be politically dangerous for APC to also lose committed and loyal stakeholders who still believe in the future of the party,” the group stated.

The coalition called on the APC National Working Committee, Bauchi State leadership, and stakeholders to organise immediate reconciliation meetings and strategic engagement with aggrieved party members.

The group also urged the party leadership to restore confidence among grassroots supporters and prevent further defections ahead of the 2027 political activities.
