Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde on Monday held a closed-door meeting in Ibadan with members of the interim leadership of the People’s Democratic Party amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, which took place at the Governor’s Office in Agodi Secretariat, was attended by the PDP Interim National Working Committee Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, Adolphus Wabara, and Interim National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, among other party leaders.
The delegation reportedly arrived in Oyo State around 11 a.m. and proceeded directly to the Government Secretariat for the private meeting with the governor.

Although details of the discussions were not immediately disclosed, sources within the party said the visit was partly to sympathise with Governor Makinde over the recent kidnapping and killing of teachers and pupils in the state.
Another source, however, suggested that the meeting may also involve political consultations relating to the future of the party and preparations ahead of the next general elections.
According to the source, “As politicians, one cannot rule out discussions around the party and issues concerning the forthcoming elections.”
