Reps Ticket: Akinbile-Yussuf Dismisses Bribe Claim

A leading aspirant for the House of Representatives in the Alimosho Federal Constituency, Lagos, Pharm. Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf has urged the public to discountenance a report circulating online that she offered N100 million to leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to secure the party’s ticket.

In a statement issued by her Media Office, Akinbile-Yussuf, who was a two-time commissioner in Lagos State, described the report as malicious and unwarranted.

’I didn’t bribe any leader of The Mandate Movement (TMM) or anybody. I do not need bribery to emerge as a candidate for the House of Representatives in a party (APC) I have served faithfully.

“The entirety of the allegations is not only unfounded and childish, but also depicts the nature and character of the persons and evil elements behind them. The fake news was generated by other groups that lack a good interest in the party.

“The people are also well-known for their political brigandage and desperation for political relevance. We will never respond to the malicious allegations again, as it will only make the individuals behind it more popular,” she said.

Akinbile-Yussuf disclosed that the mastermind of the bribe for ticket allegations has hatched a sinister plot to ‘’further incite the public against her, other party leaders through misinformation and smear campaign in the days ahead using contrived audio-visuals, photographs and technology-generated images.’’

She restated her loyalty to the leadership of the APC, noting that Hon. Bisi Yusuf remains the Apex Leader of APC in the Alimosho Federal Constituency and that her respect for Yusuf’s leadership remains unchanged.

She also described her relationship with the incumbent House of Representatives member, Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba, as cordial, noting that her aspiration has been encouraged by the feedback from her interactions with constituents during her recent consultation tour of the constituency.

“I believe that Nigerians are becoming wiser. Having gone round the Constituency to talk to people, people said they need a representative who has the right ideology, thinking, intelligence, vision, competency, character and courage to serve them and that I fit the description of who they want.”
