Pastor Dolapo Lawal Criticises People Who Sell Their Properties

The lead Pastor of Zoe Household Global, Dolapo Lawal, has advised Nigerians against moving overseas due to material ambition, unhealthy comparisons, and irrational expectations.

Speaking on Sunday, Pastor Lawal criticised the fixation with “Japa,” the colloquial term for emigrating, claiming that covetousness is the driving force behind many bad decisions made in search of better opportunities.

According to him, covetousness is one of the things that God hates and connected it to choices that leave people stranded overseas.

The man of God posited that after being influenced by well-chosen photos on social media, a large number of Nigerians sell their homes and leave their homes for low-paying employment abroad.

He called it “Poor thinking driven by envy” and questioned the reasoning behind selling assets in Nigeria to take jobs in America.

The cleric noted that some individuals believe that those who post photos from the UK are financially secure, only to travel and end up stranded and unable to return because of embarrassment.

He added that many foreigners save for months in order to pay for quick trips back to Nigeria.

He said, “It is covetousness that will make somebody sell their property in Nigeria and go to do a care job in America. Foolish thinking!”

“Because you are seeing people in the UK taking pictures, you think they are okay? Now you go there, you are stranded there, and you cannot come back because of shame.

“Meanwhile, you are coveting that life. They will save money for 10 months to come and spend here.”
