Oyo APC Hails Members For ‘Peaceful, Mature Conduct’

As the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) concluded the fourth batch of its scheduled primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections on Thursday, the party’s leadership disclosed that the peaceful and mature conduct of its members would go down in history as highly commendable.

With the successful conduct of the governorship primary, on Thursday, to select a candidate out the eleven aspirants who were cleared to participate in the process by the National Secretariat of the Party, Oyo APC has set the tone for the final lap of its efforts to slug it out with other registered political party in the state and guarantee victory for all its candidates at the poll in January and February next year.

In a statement issued on Thursday and made available to journalists in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, Oyo APC said that it was aware of some complaints and grievances coming from some aspirants and relevant stakeholders even as the party pledged that “No individual leader or member would be taken for granted in the scheme of things because we appreciate the fact that most of the complainants are progressive-minded persons who have passion for the democracy and good governance”.

Going by the current situation in the political space across the country, we in the APC have further shown that we are the only democrats around. With the success recorded so far in conducting our direct primaries, there is no doubt that our great party is committed to deepening democracy in the land, as we are the only party that has involved the people at the grassroots in the selection process for the 2027 polls.

“Against all odds, members of Oyo APC have demonstrated a high sense of maturity and commitment in choosing party candidates for various elective posts, which include: House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and Governorship, while that of the Presidential is the next.

“Not a few political watchers and pundits have doubted the ability of any party in the country to conduct a hitch-free and successful direct primary for known reasons, but our great Party has proved them wrong now.

As much as we are not claiming total perfection in what we have done so far, we feel strongly that all the stakeholders in Oyo APC, particularly members at the grassroots, deserve special kudos for their show of dedication, commitment and team spirit which evolved the desired results for the Party.

“As democrats, it is understood that only one person would get the Party ticket in any contest involving two or more people and with this kind of orientation, party faithful will not have any problem in working for the overall success of the APC at the poll, even where their chosen aspirant failed to secure the ticket.
