A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olubunmi Oluwafunmilayo Lawal, on Wednesday, assured residents of the state that the governorship candidate of the party, Bola Oyebamiji, will overhaul the health sector in the State if elected governor.
Lawal, founder of a non-governmental organisation, Victory Support Foundation, decried the moribund state of health facilities across the State.
She criticised the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke over what she described as poor healthcare delivery in the state.
She made this disclosure during a free medical outreach held in Ipetumodu, Ife North Local Government Area, where residents received free medical consultations, malaria tests, drugs, blood pressure checks, and eyeglasses.
The outreach, organised by South West Support Group in collaboration with the Victory Support Foundation, attracted residents from different parts of the local government seeking medical attention and support.
Speaking during the programme, Lawal said worsening economic conditions and limited access to healthcare at the grassroots informed the decision to organise the outreach.
Lawal also alleged that many primary healthcare centres across Osun State lacked adequate drugs and personnel, while roads linking rural communities remained in poor condition.
She used the occasion to canvass votes for Oyebamiji, urging them to troop out en masse and cast their votes for him, saying Oyebamiji has administrative experience with a record of service in public office.
The APC Chairman in Ife North Local Government, Hon. Philip Adebiyi, commended the organisers for bringing the outreach to the community, describing the initiative as timely and beneficial to the residents struggling with health challenges.
Other APC stakeholders and women leaders in the local government also praised the intervention, while two residents formally joined the All Progressives Congress during the programme.
