Nigerian chess master, Tunde Onakoya, has announced his plan to play for the World Team Rapid and Blitz Championship in Hong Kong in June as a member of the WR Chess team.
Onakoya expressed his pride in joining the team, saying he will compete with elite players, including Wadim Rosenstein, Akanemsko, and chess master Viswanathan Anand.
Taking to his verified X handle on Monday, the Guinness World Record holder said he will be playing alongside his personal legends.

He wrote, “Proud to announce that I’ll be representing the @wr_chess team at the World Team Rapid and Blitz Championship in Hong Kong in June.
“I’ll be playing alongside my personal legends @vishy64theking @akanemsko488 @WadimRosenstein and some of the top players in the world”.
Elite grandmasters and mixed teams compete in the World Team Rapid and Blitz Championship, one of the biggest team competitions on the international chess calendar.
Onakoya, the creator of Chess in Slum Africa, is well-known throughout the world for his record-breaking marathon chess sessions and advocacy activities.
