A coalition of student leaders under the aegis of Ogun State Students for Yayi Movement has congratulated Senator Adeola Olamilekan Solomon on his emergence as the governorship flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election in Ogun State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abeokuta, the group described the development as a major milestone in the political evolution of the state, noting that it reflects widespread recognition of the senator’s contributions to public service and development.
The movement commended Adeola, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District, for his record in educational advancement, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development, citing his role in sponsoring key legislative initiatives, including the proposed Federal University of Technology, Ilaro.
The students called on major student bodies, including the National Association of Nigerian Students, National Association of Polytechnic Students, Association of Southern Nigerian Students, National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Students, National Association of University Students and National Association of Ogun State Students, to unite in support of the APC candidate ahead of the election.
According to the group, the 2027 poll presents a defining moment for students and young people in the state to actively shape the future of governance through collective participation and mobilisation.
The coalition also lauded the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, for what it described as his commitment to fairness and inclusiveness in the political process.
It specifically commended the governor’s role in supporting the emergence of a candidate from Ogun West, noting that the move addresses long-standing concerns over political balance in the state. The group said the decision would promote unity, equity, and sustainable development, while strengthening democratic values across Ogun.
Reaffirming its support, the students pledged to mobilise across campuses, including universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and monotechnics, as well as among Ogun indigenes in the diaspora, to ensure victory for the APC candidate.
The statement was signed by the Convener of the movement, Comrade Bamgbose Tomiwa Peter, who urged stakeholders, including traditional rulers, artisans, and market leaders, to rally behind Adeola’s candidacy in the interest of the state’s progress.
