The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has dismissed allegations that he received financial inducement to facilitate the impeachment of Governor Seyi Makinde, describing the claims as false and politically motivated.

Reacting to the reports, Ogundoyin said no money was exchanged at any point, insisting that the allegation was fabricated to damage his reputation and create instability within the state’s political structure.

“I was presented with juicy offers and opportunities, but I declined without hesitation because nothing can sway my conscience or weaken my loyalty to the governor, the party, and the people we were elected to serve.

“I remain fully committed to upholding the integrity of this House and will not be part of any agenda aimed at destabilising the government we built,” he said.

The Speaker reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Makinde and the ruling party, stressing that he would not betray the mandate given to them by the electorate.

He also assured that the Assembly, under his leadership, would continue to uphold constitutional governance and act in the best interest of the people.

Ogundoyin added that he has consistently maintained open communication with the governor in all official engagements, dismissing suggestions of a rift between the two leaders.

Addressing a separate claim linking his recent visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, to alleged political manoeuvring, the Speaker said the meeting was purely traditional and consultative.

He explained that the visit took place weeks earlier and was intended to inform the monarch of his governorship ambition and seek his blessings.

Ogundoyin urged the public to disregard what he described as attempts to sow division within the state’s leadership, maintaining that the allegations were baseless.
