The Nigerian Gas Association has announced a change in its leadership following a handover ceremony held recently in Lagos.
The General Manager, Integrated Gas Development, FIRST Exploration & Petroleum Development Company, Mrs Yetunde Taiwo, assumed office as president of the association, succeeding Mr Akachukwu Nwokedi, who is Company Secretary/General Counsel at NLNG.
The transition ushers in the NGA Executive Council for the 2026–2029 tenure, comprising senior industry leaders with extensive experience across the gas value chain.
The council members are Yetunde Taiwo as president, Olufisayo Duduyemi as 1st vice president, Engr Chichi Emenike as 2nd vice president, Oladeji Olaoti as secretary general, Olabode Ogundipe as deputy secretary general, Ademola Adefarasin as financial secretary, Michael Iwuoha as legal adviser, and Osaze Isesele as publicity secretary.
In the same vein, Nwokedi and Dr Excel Ukpohor were appointed as ex officio members.
The association said, “This leadership transition reflects the association’s continued commitment to strong governance, industry representation, and the advancement of Nigeria’s gas sector as a cornerstone of national economic development and energy transition.”
The incoming president said she was committed to “consolidating the association’s strategic direction, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and driving initiatives that will unlock the full value of Nigeria’s gas resources”.
The outgoing president stated that “the NGA has continued to evolve as a leading industry platform” and expressed confidence in the new leadership to “sustain and expand its impact”.
The NGA said it remains “the premier body representing stakeholders across Nigeria’s gas industry, dedicated to promoting sustainable growth, investment, and policy advocacy”.
