The 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, Dino Melaye, has called on President Bola Tinubu to provide a clear and unambiguous explanation for the removal of Wale Edun from his position as the Minister of Finance.
Melaye, a Senator who represented Kogi West Senatorial District in the 8th Senate, made this call following the sacking and replacement of Edun by Taiwo Oyedele as Finance Minister on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in what was described as a cabinet reshuffle.

Reacting to the sacking announced on Tuesday, April 22, Edun questioned why the Minister failed to conceal the alleged embezzled funds, which purportedly led to his removal.
He wrote, “Mr President, when Ministers are sacked in civilised climes, the government must explain why they are sacked.
”Was the Minister of Finance removed because he could not cover up the stolen 24 billion dollars (34 trillion naira) diverted from our revenue? World Bank no dey lie. SDM”.
