Fresh Crisis Rock Benue APC As Party Suspends Five Appointees

A fresh crisis has rocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State, the home of Governor Hyacinth Alia, ahead of the commencement of 2027 party primaries.

New Telegraph gathered that the crisis has reportedly led to the suspension of five appointees of the governor, including the Project Coordinator for the Benue State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (BN-RAAMP), Hon. Stephen Sefa Numbeve.

Other appointees also not spared for alleged “acts of misconduct” during the party’s zoning exercise, according to the party, were Hon. Ternenge Nevkaa, Hon. Solomon Semaka, Hon. Agabi Mede and Hon. Gawon Pev.

The APC Vandeikya LGA publicity secretary, Apaa Tindim, in a widely circulated statement, said the unanimous decision to suspend the members followed a resolution of the party’s “Central Executive Committee (Exco), stakeholders, and ward chairmen across the twelve council wards in Vandeikya Local Government Area.

“This decision followed acts of misconduct exhibited during the zoning exercise,” he said.

Sequel to the statement, the party said it observed that the affected appointees failed to comply with directives issued during the zoning process and instead resorted to harassing and insulting party stakeholders publicly during the exercise in Tiev Constituency of Vandeikya LGA.

The APC Central Exco, ward chairmen, and stakeholders strongly urged them to respect and comply with this decision and to desist from all party-related activities in the local government until further notice.

Meanwhile, the APC Chairman in Vandeikya, Hon. Felix Ukange, was quoted to have reiterated the party’s commitment to strengthening its unity, discipline, and internal democracy as it prepares for the forthcoming party primaries.

The exercise was attended by several party leaders and stakeholders,

In the meantime, the outcome of the zoning arrangement showed that the Kyan State Constituency was to Lower Kyan, specifically Tsambe, where Hon. Terna Shimawua emerged as the consensus candidate.

Similarly, in Tiev State Constituency, zoning was allocated to Lower Tiev, particularly Township Ward, where two candidates, Hon. Dr. Mathew Damkor and Hon. Audu Pius Tarkighir, were presented.
