Makinde Led PDP Pegs Presidential Fee At N100m, Guber 40M


Faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, has pegged its presidential nomination fee at N100 million, the same price as the other faction led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

The Wike faction has already begun the sale of its nomination forms since last week and said it will end on May 7.

Senator Sandy Onor, from Rivers State, obtained his presidential nomination form last week, despite the fact that Wike has declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s reelection in 2027.

Makinde faction had appointed Interim National Working Committee (INWC) and made Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, whose election was nullified by the Supreme Court, as Chairman of the 13-man interim committee at the 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party.

In the timetable for the election released by the National Publicity Secretary, Ini Emembong, said it will begin sales of Expression of Interest and nomination forms from May 5 to May 13, 2026, while the last date for submission of already completed forms is May 14.

Ini Emambong said the governorship nomination fee goes for 40 million, while Senate and House of Representatives nomination fees are fixed at N10million and N7 million, respectively, while aspirants to the House of Assembly will pay N2 million.

The party said women aspirants will pay only for the Expression of Interest fee, while youths and persons with disability pay 50 per cent of the nomination fee

The PDP faction has fixed May 30 for its primaries and convention for the ratification of candidates.
