Lagos Residents To Observe Sanitation As Monthly Exercise Returns

The Lagos Waste Management Authority has urged residents across Lagos State to comply fully with the reintroduced monthly environmental sanitation exercise set to resume on April 25.

In a statement shared via its official X handle yesterday, the agency announced that the exercise will take place statewide between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., marking the official return of the once-routine cleanup initiative. LAWMA emphasised that the two-hour period is dedicated to residents cleaning their immediate surroundings and ensuring proper waste disposal, as part of broader efforts to maintain a healthier environment.

“This is a reminder that sanitation is everyone’s responsibility. Residents are encouraged to clean their surroundings, dispose waste properly, and support efforts to keep our environment clean and safe,” the statement read, adding that collective action remains key to achieving a more livable city.

The renewed push follows an earlier announcement by the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, who confirmed that the exercise would now hold on the last Saturday of every month.
