As President Bola Tinubu marks the third years in office, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu has commended the President’s “Bold decisions”, saying they pulled Nigeria out of economic collapse.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Ben Kalu congratulated President Tinubu on his 3rd anniversary, maintaining that he showed courage that has secured the future of the country.
He said: “On behalf of myself and the good people I represent, I extend warm congratulations to you, His Excellency, as you mark three years of dedicated service to our nation.
“The past three years have tested our resolve, yet your administration has shown courage in taking bold decisions to secure our future.”
The Deputy Speaker also cited economic stabilisation and critical reforms as key achievements of the administration, noting that Tinubu’s leadership has continued to lay the foundation for lasting growth and unity.
“From stabilising the economy to advancing critical reforms, your leadership continues to lay the foundation for lasting growth and unity.
“As you begin your fourth year, I pray for renewed strength, wisdom, and grace to consolidate the gains achieved and deliver greater prosperity for all citizens”, he said.
Urging Nigerians to back President Tinubu’s second-term bid to complete his ongoing reforms across all sectors, Kalu further highlighted reasons he should be reelected in the 2027 general elections.
Emphasising policy continuity and stability, the Deputy Speaker said that major reforms like economic restructuring, subsidy removal, exchange rate unification, and tax reforms require more than one term to mature.
“A second term ensures these policies are not reversed midstream, which would erase the sacrifice already made and destabilise investors’ confidence,” Kalu said.
He listed key national projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Gas Pipeline, rail expansions, and power sector upgrades, saying that reelecting the President will help to complete what he initiated, rather than handing half-built projects to a new administration with different priorities.
According to the Deputy Speaker, the President has “cleared the ground” by removing distortions, attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and rebuilding fiscal buffers to ensure rapid economic growth and development.
“With inflation now trending down and reserves recovering, a second term is the harvest period where Nigerians begin to feel the benefits of earlier tough decisions”, he said.
Kalu also pointed to the state policing bill, improved military hardware, and new security doctrines as signs that “the foundations are being reset.”
He said: “The first term cleared the debris and laid the foundation. The second term builds the house. Reelecting President Tinubu is a vote to complete the work, protect the gains, and give reforms time to translate into more jobs, lower costs, and lasting growth. Changing commanders-in-chief mid-process disrupts momentum against banditry and terrorism.
“A second term signals political stability. It tells the world that Nigeria’s reforms tucked in the Renewed Hope Agenda will outlive one election cycle, unlock bigger investments in energy, tech, and manufacturing”, Kalu said.
He pledged the commitment of the Parliament to synergising and supporting other arms of government on policies and laws that will benefit the citizenry and ensure the overall development of the country.
