Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries slated for Friday, influential party elders, stakeholders and officials in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State have thrown their weight behind former member representing Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency, Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos, endorsing his return bid to the House of Representatives.
The endorsement came on Wednesday during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting where party leaders openly blessed the former lawmaker and described him as a tested grassroots politician with proven records in representation, empowerment and constituency engagement.
Hon. Bagos, who represented Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency in the 9th National Assembly and was re-elected in the 10th Assembly under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) before the Appeal Court nullified the election over party structure issues, recently defected to the APC alongside Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, and other political stakeholders following the lingering crisis within the PDP.
The former lawmaker, accompanied by his wife, Lydia, and hundreds of supporters drawn from Jos South and Jos East, visited APC elders and party officials to seek their blessings ahead of the direct primaries.
Addressing party stakeholders, Bagos pledged to consolidate on the achievements recorded during his previous tenure if given another opportunity to represent the constituency at the National Assembly.
He assured party faithful that his focus would remain on people-oriented legislation, youth empowerment, infrastructure development and responsive representation.
“I remain committed to quality representation and grassroots development. The support and trust of the people have always inspired my service, and by God’s grace, we will continue to deliver more dividends of democracy,” Bagos stated.
Speaking during the meeting, Chairman of the APC Elders and Stakeholders Forum, Da Fidelis Dadieng, described Bagos as a dependable leader who maintained close ties with his constituents even after leaving office.
Also speaking, former Jos South Chairman, Hon. Gideon Dandareng; former PDP Women Leader in Jos South, Mrs. Rose Dang; former member representing Jos East, Hon. Isaac Arin; and Plateau State Leader of Councillors, Hon. Emmanuel Chomo Sheng, unanimously endorsed Bagos’ aspiration.
The stakeholders noted that the former federal lawmaker distinguished himself through effective representation and consistent engagement with the people.
According to them, Bagos sustained regular town hall meetings across communities while in office, creating avenues for constituents to contribute to discussions on developmental projects and policy priorities affecting the constituency.
They further commended his achievements in youth empowerment initiatives, infrastructural interventions and sponsorship of people-centred bills aimed at improving the welfare of constituents.
The APC leaders also acknowledged the security challenges confronting communities within the constituency but praised Bagos for sustaining developmental interventions and remaining accessible to the people despite the difficulties.
The stakeholders stressed the need for experienced and vibrant representation at the National Assembly, expressing confidence in Bagos’ legislative experience, leadership capacity and ability to unite the constituency.
They subsequently offered prayers and blessings for his success ahead of the APC direct primaries scheduled for Friday, May 15, 2026, urging party members and constituents to support his aspiration in the interest of continuity, development and effective representation.
