Federal Poly Oko Inaugurates New Deans, HODs


The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra state, Dr Chioma Irene Awuzie, has inaugurated nine newly elected Deans of Schools and Heads of Academic Departments of the institution.

The inauguration was held at the Mass Communication conference hall of the polytechnic, with the deans and the heads of departments elected through a peaceful and transparent process.

During the inauguration, the Rector expressed deep appreciation to the electoral committee chaired by the Director of Academic Planning, Dr Kenneth Ezekwe, for conducting free and fair elections, while congratulating the newly elected deans and heads of departments on their emergence into their new offices.

She described their success and elections as a testament to the confidence their colleagues reposed in their competence, integrity and capacity to lead.

She urged them to uphold the highest ethical standard in the discharge of their duties to ensure that their schools and departments remained a safe, peaceful and professional environment for both staff and students.

“As Deans and Heads of Academic Departments, you are the drivers of academic quality because you are the custodians of standards and the bridge between management and the academic staff and students.

“You must ensure discipline and uphold institutional policy and encourage collaboration among staff, while maintaining transparency and accountability in all your dealings,” she admonished.

The Rector also urged them to provide quality leadership, foster unity, uphold mutual respect regardless of status, and ensure inclusive administration in the discharge of their duties.

“Lead with humility; listen with empathy and act with courage. Ensure your leadership brings lasting positive impact.

“This administration remains committed towards repositioning Federal Polytechnic, Oko, as a centre of excellence, innovation and professional relevance.

“Therefore, we maintain zero tolerance for all forms of misconduct, including extortion, bribery and sexual harassment. Anyone found guilty will face serious consequences, including suspension or dismissal, as the case may be,” she warned.
