After briefly surrendering first place following Manchester City’s midweek win, Mikel Arteta’s side responded with resilience, grinding out three crucial points to edge ahead once more in the title race.

However, it took just nine minutes for the breakthrough to arrive. Arsenal’s well-drilled set-piece routine paid off again, as Eze met a cleverly delivered ball and fired a precise finish into the top-left corner, leaving goalkeeper Nick Pope with no chance.
Newcastle, managed by Eddie Howe, responded with determination. Joe Willock forced a straightforward save from David Raya, who then produced a standout moment midway through the first half.
The Arsenal goalkeeper reacted sharply to deny Sandro Tonali’s dipping long-range strike, preserving his side’s advantage.

Arsenal nearly doubled their lead late on when Martin Ødegaard struck from distance, only for Pope to parry the effort away.
Despite the late chances, the Gunners held firm to secure a vital win that moves them three points clear at the top, albeit having played a game more than Manchester City.
