Eid-El-Kabir: Nigerians Must Embrace Unity Beyond Politics

As Muslims across Nigeria prepare for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for the Ede Federal Constituency, Ayodele David Asalu, popularly known as ASLER, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, sacrifice and compassion amid the country’s economic and social challenges.

Asalu, who recently emerged as the APC candidate to represent Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency in the forthcoming general elections, said the significance of Eid goes beyond celebration, noting that the period should serve as a reminder of selflessness, tolerance and commitment to national development.

In a statement released on Monday, the APC candidate urged Nigerians not to lose hope despite the current realities confronting the country, stressing that collective responsibility and people-focused leadership remain essential for progress.

According to him, “Eid-el-Kabir reminds us of the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, patience and love for humanity. At a time when many Nigerians are passing through economic difficulties and uncertainties, we must continue to support one another and pray for peace, stability and progress in our country.”

He urged political leaders across all levels to place the welfare of citizens above personal and political interests, adding that leadership should be measured by service and impact on the people.

“As leaders and aspiring public office holders, this season should challenge us to think more about the people, their struggles, their hopes and their future. Governance must always reflect compassion, accountability and sincerity,” he said.

Asalu, who is the Chairman of the Youths, Students and Civil Society Mobilisation Committee for the governorship campaign of APC in Osun State, also called on residents of Osun State and supporters of the party to remain united ahead of future political engagements, while canvassing support for Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).

Describing AMBO as “a tested administrator with capacity and vision,” Asalu said Osun needs experienced and people-oriented leadership capable of driving development and improving the lives of residents.

He said, “I strongly believe AMBO represents competence, experience and the progressive ideals needed to move Osun State forward. I encourage party members and the good people of Osun to continue supporting leaders who are committed to genuine development and inclusive governance.”

Asalu further appealed to Nigerians to celebrate peacefully and extend kindness to the less privileged during the Eid period, noting that national unity and peaceful coexistence remain critical to the country’s growth.
