Bala Mohammed Moves To Ease Transport Costs With New Yankari Buses

Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration has taken a major step towards reducing transportation challenges in Bauchi State with the addition of 30 vehicles to the fleet of Yankari Transport Company.

The Commissioner for Works and Transport, Prof. Titus Saul Ketkuka, disclosed this today during the commissioning of the first batch of vehicles in Bauchi, saying the initiative is designed to provide residents with affordable and dependable transportation services.

He said the newly commissioned vehicles comprise 10 buses with a capacity of 18 passengers each and two Peugeot cars, while additional vehicles are expected before the end of the month.

According to Ketkuka, the government is responding to growing transportation demands and the rising cost of travel by strengthening the state’s public transport system.

He explained that the vehicles would operate on strategic inter-state and intra-state routes to make travel more accessible and convenient for citizens.

The commissioner stressed that efficient transportation remains critical to economic development, noting that the investment would improve connectivity, support commerce, and create employment opportunities.

He called on the management of Yankari Transport Company to ensure proper upkeep of the vehicles to maximise their lifespan and service efficiency.

The General Manager of the company, Engr. Babaji Yunusa thanked the state government for the support and assured that the new vehicles would enhance service delivery and improve passenger transportation across the state.
