Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun East Senatorial District on Monday, April 20, unanimously endorsed the incumbent Governor of the State, Dapo Abiodun as their consensus candidate for the 2027 Senate election.
The endorsement was announced during a stakeholders’ meeting held at Adeola Odutola Hall in Ijebu-Ode, with a large turnout of party leaders and grassroots representatives across the district.
The gathering featured members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), current and former lawmakers, local government chairmen, councillors from all wards, as well as youth and women leaders.

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, former Ogun East senator, Lekan Mustapha, said the decision was based on a collective belief in Abiodun’s leadership capacity and ability to effectively represent the district at the National Assembly.
He added that party leaders would formally communicate the endorsement to the governor and indicated plans to purchase his nomination forms ahead of the 2027 elections.
Also speaking, the Ogun State Secretary to the Government, Tokunbo Talabi, described the endorsement as “historic and unanimous,” noting that it reflects confidence in the governor’s track record in governance and party unity.
A member of the House of Representatives, Femi Ogunbanwo, representing Odogbolu, Ijebu-Ode and Ijebu North East Federal Constituency, commended the governor’s performance.
Similarly, Sagamu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Afolabi Odulate, praised Abiodun’s leadership and urged him to accept the senatorial nomination.
The event also saw participation from all 103 councillors across the nine local governments in Ogun East, alongside key grassroots mobilisers and party elders.
Notable figures in attendance included former senators Gbenga Kaka and Lekan Mustapha, Ogun East APC Chairman Adedoyin Adeleke, and several political stakeholders across the district.
