Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has formally announced her intention to seek a second term in office, urging members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to close ranks ahead of future elections.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan made the declaration during a stakeholders’ meeting of the party in Kogi Central, where leaders and supporters gathered to deliberate on the party’s direction in the district.
Speaking at the meeting, the lawmaker said her decision followed extensive consultations and sustained appeal from constituents across the five Local Government Areas of the Senatorial District.
“After due consultations and encouragement from my husband, I have accepted your calls to re-contest for a second term as your senator,” she said.

New Telegraph reports that the Senator’s announcement comes amid growing endorsements from party members and community leaders, reflecting what observers described as strong grassroots backing for her candidacy.
She used the opportunity to emphasised the need for unity within the PDP, calling on stakeholders to prioritise reconciliation and inclusiveness in order to strengthen the party’s chances in upcoming elections.
“This is the time to bring everyone back home. We must reconcile with those who may have had issues, for the betterment of our party and success in the elections ahead,” she added.
Also speaking at the meeting, the PDP Zonal Chairman for Kogi Central, Hon. Anthony Akuvada, commended the senator’s performance, describing her as a transformational leader whose impact has been widely felt across the district.
“Distinguished Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has redefined representation in Kogi Central.
Her performance has been exemplary, from infrastructural development to human capital empowerment,” Akuvada said.
Akpoti-Uduaghan’s first term in the Senate has been marked by interventions in education, youth and women empowerment, as well as advocacy for infrastructural development, earning her support across political and social divides.
She also expressed appreciation to her husband, High Chief Emmanuel Oritsejolomi Otuoze Uduaghan, for his support throughout her political journey.
