ADC Pledges To Chart Pathway For Devt As Party Affirms Candidates In Sokoto

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Sokoto State chapter, on Thursday affirmed its National and State Assembly candidates for the 2027 elections.

Following the conduct of a consensus primary election as provided in the ADC constitution, a ceremony was held to unveil the senatorial candidates for Sokoto Central and Sokoto East.

Delegates affirmed Hon. Mani Maishinko, a serving member of the House of Representatives, as the senatorial candidate for the Sokoto Central Senatorial District.

Hon. Hassan Rabah, a former chairman of Rabah Local Government Area, was affirmed as the senatorial candidate for the Sokoto East Senatorial District.

Similarly, former Nigerian Ambassador to Jordan, Amb. Faruk Malami Yabo was affirmed as the candidate for the Sokoto South Senatorial District.

House of Representatives candidates were also affirmed for the state’s eleven federal constituencies, while candidates were affirmed for the thirty state assembly constituencies.

In their separate acceptance speeches, the three senatorial candidates commended the leader of the party in the state, Sen. Aminu Wazirin Tambuwal, as well as other leaders and members, for reposing confidence in them.

Pledging to maintain high standards, the candidates expressed optimism that they would emerge victorious in the forthcoming polls.

They also pledged to improve security and the general living conditions of the people of the state in line with the ADC manifesto.

“The elections were conducted in line with the party constitution through a direct process,” they said.

They noted that Sen. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal made efforts to resolve the process through consensus, adding that they accepted to contest because “no one gives victory except Allah.”

Speaking on the state of the nation, the candidates said Nigerians are suffering under the APC administration, which they described as oppressive.

According to them, the government has failed in its mandate to address the country’s security challenges.

They urged the people, especially those in Sokoto East, to prioritise tackling insecurity and improving access to water and other basic needs.

The candidates emphasised that the ADC is set to defeat the APC in 2027 under the leadership of Mannir Dan’iya.

They called on the people to come out en masse and elect an ADC government so they can benefit from the dividends of democracy.

They pledged not to fail the people or the ADC if elected into office, and promised to carry everyone along in discharging their mandate.

They also vowed to contribute toward addressing the security challenges facing Sokoto East.

The candidates commended the efforts of former Governor Tambuwal and assured the people they would build on his work until success is achieved.

They blamed the APC for the hardship Nigerians are facing, particularly insecurity, hunger, and economic hardship, and promised that if voted into power, the ADC would address these issues once and for all.

It will be recalled that the party had earlier chosen former Deputy Governor Alhaji Manir Dan-Iya as its consensus governorship candidate.
