Liverpool Reach Agreement With New Manager After Slot Exit

Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement to appoint a new manager to replace the departing Arne Slot, with Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola said to be close to taking over at Anfield.

According to New Telegraph, the Reds are advancing towards confirming Iraola as their next manager following Slot’s dismissal.

Slot’s exit comes after a disappointing 2025/26 campaign, in which Liverpool finished fifth in the Premier League, their lowest league position in nearly a decade.

Despite guiding the club to the title in his debut season, Slot was unable to replicate that success, as Liverpool endured an inconsistent and underwhelming defence of their crown, characterised by erratic performances and an unusually high number of defeats.

Following a comprehensive end-of-season review, the club hierarchy concluded that a managerial change was necessary as they look to reset ahead of the new campaign.

Liverpool Reach Agreement With Andoni Iraola

Andoni Iraola, 43, has built a growing reputation as one of Europe’s most promising coaches, with his early work at Rayo Vallecano first drawing attention before his impact at Bournemouth elevated his standing significantly.

Over three seasons in the Premier League, he transformed the Cherries into one of the division’s most progressive sides, guiding them to a historic sixth-place finish and securing their first-ever qualification for European competition in the Europa League.

If confirmed, Iraola will take charge of one of the most demanding roles in world football. Liverpool’s managerial position comes with high expectations, as supporters demand both domestic and European success alongside an attractive, attacking style of play.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that an agreement has already been reached between all parties, with an official announcement expected in the near future.
