Ilana Oodua Frowns At Oyo Abduction, Seeks Regional Cooperation Against Insecurity

Yoruba socio-cultural group, The Ilana omo Oodua, USA, has decried the deadly abduction of teachers and pupils in Esinele, Oriire Local Government area of Oyo State by the ungodly Fulani marauders, and called for President Bola Tinubu’s quick intervention.

In a statement, the group expressed deep concern to all Yoruba (“K’aaro Oojire”) sons and daughters both at home and in the diaspora, urging security agencies to deploy their competences to locate and free the hostages.

While it frowns at the protracted widespread insecurity in the country, it described the action as barbaric and despicable, especially its effects on the region’s innocent children and adults who were seeking better living standards which has now turned out to be a debacle of sorrows and tears.

The statement, signed by its Coordinator, Mr. Uthman Kolapo, the group said, “This dastardly act has brought the care for humanity to its lowest levels in Nigeria. More so, the action can be viewed as equivalent to indirect psychological killings on Western education that is highly valued by our race.

“On this ground, the Ilana Omo Oodua USA hereby condemns this nonsensical madness of behavior in its entirety. We are equally using this opportunity to call on the governors in South western Nigeria and the federal government headed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to wake up to their lawful responsibilities of protecting lives and properties of the citizenry before the situation gets out of hand.”

It also urged each state governor in the region to strengthen regional cooperation and quickly call the fanatic religious leaders to order or get them arrested to send a strong warning to anyone or group planning to turn Yorubaland to a cesspool of blood-sucking demons.

“What is ours is ours; “Oloju onilaju e s’ile, ki talubo k’owo,” no one folds his arms in the face of imminent danger. We as well need to make it known that we will not stand flat footed and allow foreign intruders to invade our land and, in the process, turn our genuine hospitality to foolhardy stupidity.
