The Awori-speaking people in Lagos and Ogun states, under the auspices of Awori Nation 4 Tinubu (AN4T), have thrown their weight behind the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
Aside from President Tinubu, the group also endorsed the governorship aspirations of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the two states, Obafemi Hamzat and Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, respectively.
According to a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of Awori Welfare Association of Nigeria, AWAN, Prince Adeniyi Jafojo, issued on Thursday, the decision was conveyed by the Convener of AN4T, Alhaji Semiu Olusola Yusuf, on Tuesday.
In the statement made available to newsmen, Jafojo quoted Alhaji Yusuf as stating that the move came as a result of extensive consultation which his group made to various stakeholders across the 20 local governments where indigenous Awori settlers are located across the two states.
“After careful thoughts, deep consultation and a close look at the state of our (Awori) communities and our nation, the time has come for us to openly state where we stand and who we stand with.
“I hereby declare our full, unreserved and unshakable support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) because of the party’s vision for our people and our country.
“Today, we give an answer without hesitation, without looking back, that the named candidates are our choice for their respective aspirations,” Yusuf said.
On why his people took the decision, he said, “We have chosen to stand with APC candidates because they are not just offering words; they are offering immediate solutions without undermining the future.”
