A frontline governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State and former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, has alleged manipulation to rig the governorship primary election of the party held on 21st May 2026, across the state.
The Director General of Abubakar Adamu’s campaign organisation, Barr. Musa Husseini made the disclosure at a press briefing on Friday in Lafia, alleging that Muhammed Abubakar Adamu had recorded an overwhelming victory in many electoral wards during the election, alleging that attempts are being made to manipulate the result in favour of the governor’s preferred aspirant, Senator Aliyu Ahmed Wadada.
“Our attention has been drawn to an ongoing attempt to create confusion around the outcome of the governorship primary election conducted on the 21st May, 2026, across Nassarawa State.
“We wish to state clearly that the retired Inspector-General of Police, Muhammad Abubakar Adamu, recorded a decisive and overwhelming victory across the state where the election was peacefully and successfully conducted.
“The result available from the wards and local government areas where voting took place clearly reflects the will of the party members and demonstrates the massive support enjoyed by our candidate across the state,” Hussein alleged.
He called on the APC election committee to remain firm, impartial and committed to justice by upholding the genuine result as obtained at the ward polling units and collation centres.
The Director General urged the election committee to resist every form of pressure, intimidation or attempt to manipulate the democratic process.
Husseini strongly condemned the reports of hijacking and interference with election result sheets by some officials of the Nassarawa State government in some local government areas.
Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Augustine Ogaba, declined to comment on the allegations when contacted.
