Ex-Ondo Gov Mimiko Defects To APC, Joins Aiyedatiwa’s Camp


Former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) after recently resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The defection was confirmed in a statement issued by Olawale Ijanusi, Special Assistant on New Media to the Ondo State APC Chairman, Kolawole Babatunde.

According to the statement, Mimiko formally joined the ruling party in Ondo Town alongside thousands of his supporters during a well-attended gathering of party leaders and stakeholders.

Welcoming the former governor, Babatunde described the move as a major boost for the APC and the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

He said Mimiko’s entry into the party would strengthen its structure, unity, and grassroots appeal across the state, noting that his political experience remains invaluable.

Babatunde also commended Mimiko’s record in office, highlighting achievements in healthcare, education, and infrastructure, including the construction of the Ondo Dome.

The APC chairman added that the defection reflects growing confidence in the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and the direction of governance in Ondo State.

He expressed optimism that Mimiko’s support base would further enhance the capacity of the APC-led administration to deliver more democratic dividends to residents.

Speaking at the event, Mimiko thanked party leaders for welcoming him and his supporters, pledging to work for unity, peace, and development in the state.

He also assured that he would contribute to the growth and success of the APC both in Ondo State and nationally.
