2027: Badagry Traditional Rulers Endorse Whingan For Re-Election


The traditional rulers in Badagry communities have endorsed the re-election bid of Prince Sesi Whingan, the current lawmaker, representing Badagry Constituency in the House of Representatives.

According to a statement issued by the Media Office of the lawmaker on Thursday, the endorsement took place on May 13, during a gathering of monarchs held at Fams Embassy and Suites, Ibereko, Badagry, Lagos

The royal fathers collectively declared their support for Whingan’s continued representation of the constituency at the House of Representatives.

“The monarchs at the historic gathering included His Royal Majesty, Oba Oladele Kosoko, former Member of the House of Representatives and the Ajagun of Iworo-Awori Kingdom, Aholu Sejoro James, the Akweno of Kweme Kingdom.

“We also have Oba Ajose Oyekan Adekanmi, Ilufemiloye Possi III of Apa Kingdom, Aholu Saheed Adamson of Ajido Kingdom, Aholu Solomon Jonah Adewale Egbenayon, the Owa Ajaka of Age-Mowo Kingdom.

“Also Oba Israel Okoya, the Onibereko of Ibereko Kingdom, Aholu Awoyemi Nunayon of Aklakumo Kingdom, Aholu Samuel Wheto, the Onigbanko of Igbanko Land, Oba Sheriff Adeshina Bello, the Agano of Ajara-Agamathen Kingdom,

“Aholu Agano Toniyon I, Oba Olatunji Ogabi, Oyikilu I of Imeke Kingdom, and Aholu Jimoh Fabiyi, the De Ovitotode of Ikoga-Zebbe Kingdom,” it stated.

The revered monarchs expressed satisfaction with the quality representation, accessibility and developmental projects facilitated by Hon. Whingan since his election into the House of Representatives in 2023.

They particularly commended his legislative contributions at the National Assembly, empowerment programmes for youths and women, educational support initiatives, infrastructural projects and consistent advocacy for the development of Badagry Federal Constituency.

Among several achievements highlighted at the meeting were the sponsorship of over 20 bills and motions, the facilitation of school projects across the constituency, and the installation of solar streetlights in many communities.

Others are free NIN registration for thousands of residents, empowerment programmes through SMEDAN and the distribution of solar power kits to support small businesses.

The monarchs also acknowledged the impact of Whingan’s educational interventions, including scholarship schemes for students across the constituency and the procurement of two brand new buses for the transportation of students to and from their schools.

The royal fathers further congratulated Whingan on his recent appointment as Lagos State Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, a youth-driven political organisation supporting the reelection of President Bola Tinubu, describing the appointment as a recognition of his leadership capacity and growing political influence.

The Media Office of the representative sincerely appreciated the royal fathers for the confidence reposed in the lawmaker and assured the people of Badagry Federal Constituency that he remains committed to delivering more impactful representation and sustainable development across the constituency.
