Gov Aliyu Begins Tour Of LGAs To Assess Devt Projects

The Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has announced plans to embark on a tour of the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state to assess the level of developmental projects being executed by local government councils.

The Governor made this known while inspecting the construction of a Women and Children Welfare Clinic being executed by the Goronyo Local Government Council.

He explained that the visit has become necessary to evaluate the extent and quality of developmental projects being carried out across the LGAs.

Aliyu noted that local government councils, being the closest tier of government to the grassroots, must impact the lives of rural dwellers through the provision of basic amenities, thereby complementing the efforts of the state government.

“At the state level, we are executing projects such as boreholes, rural roads, primary healthcare centres, blocks of classrooms, as well as providing support to farmers,” he said.

“We ensure that local government councils receive their monthly allocations; therefore, we expect them to execute projects that will improve the living conditions of their people,” he added.

The Governor reassured residents, particularly those at the grassroots, that his administration remains committed to delivering the dividends of democracy across every part of the state.

He also appealed for continued support for government policies and programmes.

Governor Aliyu commended the Chairman of Goronyo Local Government for the ongoing construction of the Women and Children Welfare Clinic in the area.

“I commend the quality of work being executed and call on other local government chairmen to intensify efforts in making healthcare accessible to their people,” he stated.

He further directed the State Ministry of Health to inspect the project and advise the government on the necessary interventions required to achieve its intended objectives.

Earlier, the Chairman of Goronyo Local Government, Zubairu Yari Goronyo, disclosed that the council is constructing three Women and Children Welfare Clinics in Goronyo, Takakume, and Boyekai to improve access to healthcare services.

He added that the Goronyo clinic, which is the largest, has been named after the Governor’s wife, Hajiya Fatima Ahmed Aliyu.

The Chairman expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmed Aliyu for his consistent support of the local government council.

The Governor was accompanied on the inspection visit by the APC leader in the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, the Deputy Governor, Idris Muhammed Gobir, Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga, Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi.

Others are the Minister of State for Works, Barr. Bello Goronyo, former Deputy Governor, Barr. Mukhtar Shagari, member representing Kware/Wamakko, Ahmed Abdullahi Kalambaina, as well as lawmakers, commissioners, special advisers, and senior special assistants, among others.
