Paris Club Refunds Allegations, Distortion Of Facts

The Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Ned Nwoko, on Friday, said the media report linking him to the Paris Club refund controversy was a distortion of facts.

Senator Nwoko in a statement issued by his media team, said the matter has been thoroughly investigated and settled by relevant authorities, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“All investigations reached the same conclusion: that the contractual work was duly executed, while outstanding balances remain due under established agreements,” the Senator said in the statement.

Nwoko disclosed that no fewer than four separate investigations have been conducted by the EFCC on the consultancy agreement linked to the Paris Club refunds.

“These include a recent review reportedly ordered under the current administration,” he added.

According to him, the findings were supported by official records within the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) where all federal payments are processed, documented, and subject to audit.

“Allegations linking the Senator to any improper collaboration with the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, are entirely unfounded and malicious,” the statement added.

Senator Nwoko said those behind the misinformation are doing so for personal or political purposes, adding that appropriate legal steps have been taken in response to criminal defamatory publications involving the individuals and their affiliated entities.

“The Senator urges the public to disregard unverified narratives and rely strictly on official records and established institutional findings.

“For the avoidance of doubt and for clarity, we state unequivocally that there is no ‘fresh claim’ and that at no time was $350 million paid to Ned Nwoko or his company

“He remains committed to due process, transparency, and the rule of law,” the media office added.
