Police Warn Against Extortion As Recruitment Screening Begins In Oyo


The Oyo State Police Command has warned against extortion and unprofessional conduct during the ongoing police recruitment screening exercise in the state.

The warning was given by the Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, Department of Training and Development, Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, during an inspection visit to the screening team at the Command Headquarters.

He was accompanied by the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga.

Addressing officials from the Police Service Commission and officers of the Nigeria Police Force led by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Ojo, Afolabi stressed the need for strict compliance with due process throughout the screening exercise.

He cautioned against all forms of misconduct, noting that any act of extortion or compromise would undermine the credibility of the recruitment process and negatively impact the effectiveness of the force.

According to him, decisions made during the screening will have long-term implications for the Nigeria Police Force, making transparency, accountability, and professionalism essential.

Afolabi further warned that any officer found guilty of misconduct would face disciplinary action in accordance with the law.
