2027 Poll, A Struggle For Future Of State, Nation

The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on all political leaders in the State, to see the 2027 elections not just as a political contest but a struggle for the soul and future of the State and nation.

The Chairman, PDP Caretaker Committee Abia State, Ikpegbu Emeka-Yellow, urged political stakeholders irrespective of party affiliation, to rise above partisan defences and unite in defence of democracy.

According to him, other opposition forces and parties synergisetate, should synergise to work together in resisting any attempt to destabilise or dominate the political space through undemocratic means.

Emeka-Yellow reassured “members, supporters, and the good people of Abia State and Nigeria that our party remains strong, united, and fully prepared for the task ahead. We are firmly on ground and will field credible, competent, and people-oriented candidates in all elections come 2027.”

“We call on all well-meaning Nigerians to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the 2027 general elections.

“The APC has proven, beyond doubt, to be a monumental failure and a tragic experiment that has inflicted untold hardship on Nigerians.

“For over a decade, Nigerians have endured unprecedented economic decline, rising insecurity, institutional decay, and a collapse of public trust under APC leadership.

“Today, millions of Nigerians can barely afford basic necessities. Inflation has eroded incomes, unemployment has skyrocketed, and businesses are shutting down daily.

“A government that has failed to improve the lives of its citizens in 11 years cannot be trusted with even one more day in office,” he said.

The caretaker chairman lamented that, “beyond economic hardship, insecurity has reached alarming levels. From banditry and terrorism to kidnapping and communal violence, Nigerians now live in constant fear, with little confidence in the ability of the APC-led government to protect lives and property.

“A government that cannot guarantee safety has failed in its primary responsibility.”

He also cited the systematic weakening of democratic institutions as among the reasons Nigerians should reject the APC, arguing that the ruling party has consistently undermined the independence of key institutions, including the judiciary and electoral bodies, while promoting a culture of impunity and propaganda.

He said the APC has reduced governance to media spin, while real issues affecting citizens are ignored.

“Perhaps most dangerous is the desperate attempt by the APC to turn Nigeria into a one-party state. Through intimidation, coercion, and manipulation of state institutions, the ruling party is working to cripple opposition voices and stifle democratic competition ahead of 2027. This is a direct threat to Nigeria’s democracy and must be resisted by all patriots.”

He said the APC should be rejected having failed in critical sectors including education, infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, and power supply.
