Kwara NSCDC Boss Pledges Stronger Operational Strategies

The new Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abas Nda Mohammed, has pledged stronger operational strategies, improved intelligence gathering, and sustained collaboration with stakeholders in the fight against crime and protection of critical national assets in the State.

Speaking during his maiden interaction with journalists in Ilorin, Mohammed expressed appreciation to the media for their role in public enlightenment and security awareness, describing their partnership as vital to effective policing and national stability.

“I welcome you all and sincerely appreciate your presence here today. Let me also commend your continued role in keeping the public informed and engaged,” he said.

He noted that he has officially assumed duty as the 16th substantive State Commandant of the NSCDC in Kwara State, describing the appointment as a privilege and a call to greater responsibility.

“I have recently assumed duty as the 16th substantive commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Command, and I consider it a privilege to serve,” he added.

Reaffirming the Corps’ mandate, the new Commandant stressed that the agency remains committed to safeguarding lives and protecting critical national infrastructure across the State.

According to him, his leadership would focus on strengthening operational capacity, enhancing intelligence-led policing, and intensifying efforts against vandalism, sabotage, and other forms of criminality.

“Under my leadership, we will strengthen our operations, enhance intelligence gathering, and intensify efforts in safeguarding critical infrastructure and tackling all forms of criminality,” he stated.

He warned criminal elements to desist from unlawful activities, insisting that the Command would not hesitate to enforce the full weight of the law against offenders.

“Criminal elements are hereby warned to desist, as the Command will not hesitate to apply the full weight of the law,” he cautioned.

Mohammed also emphasised the importance of inter-agency cooperation and sustained partnership with stakeholders, particularly the media, in achieving a safer society.

“We will also continue to collaborate with other security agencies and stakeholders, including the media, as security is a collective responsibility,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to the people of Kwara State for their support and assured them of a proactive and decisive approach to security management under his leadership.
