It was a day of celebration and reflection in Badagry as renowned traditional leader and cultural custodian, Ambassador Patrick Yedenu Mobee, marked his 70th birthday with a special thanksgiving service held on Palm Sunday.
The event, which coincided with the Christian observance of Palm Sunday, took place at the Cathedral Church of Saint Thomas under the Anglican Communion.
The service drew a large gathering of dignitaries, including White Cap Chiefs from the Badagry axis, government officials at both state and federal levels, as well as family members and well-wishers.
Officiating at the Thanksgiving were Rt. Rev. Dr. Babatunde Joseph Adeyemi and Ven. D.O.O. Ilegbusi, who led prayers and delivered messages celebrating Mobee’s life of service and leadership.
The occasion was particularly significant as it also marked Mobee’s 25th coronation anniversary as custodian of historical artifacts at the Slave Relics Museum, as well as his 45th wedding anniversary.
Clad in regal traditional attire befitting his status as Mobee of Boekoh Badagry Kingdom, the celebrant was visibly joyful. He declined media interviews, choosing instead to celebrate with his wife, Olori Chief Mrs. Olajumoke Adeola, alongside their children and grandchildren.
The atmosphere was lively as choir renditions, including “Alleluia” and “Hosanna,” filled the cathedral, reinforcing the spirit of the Easter season.
