Atuma Calls For Empathy, Genuine Concern For Each Other

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Emeka Atuma, has charged Christians and Nigerians to use the Easter celebration as a period of positive change, where empathy and genuine concern for each other take top priority.

Atuma called on leaders to use the season to extend hands of kindness and generosity to the vulnerable and less privileged in their communities, stressing that in doing so, they reinforce the values that bind the people together and strengthen the foundation of the society.

“Leadership at every level must reflect the spirit of Easter: sacrificial, responsive, and people-centred. It must be anchored on equity, inclusiveness, and an unwavering commitment to the common good. This is the path to sustainable development and lasting peace,” he said.

He stressed that Easter should not be limited to a mere celebration but rather be an important period in life that urges all Nigerians to remain steadfast in faith, resilient in adversity, and united in purpose as the country strives for a better and more inclusive society.

The former lawmaker who represented the Ikwuano-Umuahia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and senatorial candidate of the APC for Abia Central District in 2023 reminded Christians that Easter is the cornerstone of the Christian faith.

He described it as a solemn yet triumphant reminder of sacrifice, redemption, and the enduring victory of hope over despair.

“It is a season that calls us to deep reflection on the boundless love of God, demonstrated through Christ’s ultimate sacrifice, and the promise of renewal that His resurrection brings to humanity,” Atuma said.

He said that at this defining moment in Nigeria’s journey, the message of Easter speaks powerfully to all, as it reassures everybody that no matter the depth of the challenges, hope is never lost.

“I call on all of us, particularly the good people of Abia Central Senatorial District, to embody the timeless virtues exemplified by Christ: love, humility, forgiveness, and selfless service.

“These are not just spiritual ideals; they are practical principles necessary for building a peaceful, cohesive, and progressive society.

“As a people, we must rise above divisions, strengthen the bonds that unite us, and recommit ourselves to the ideals of justice, compassion, and shared humanity.

“As we celebrate, may this Easter bring renewed strength, restored hope, and greater unity to our land.

“May it inspire us to work together towards a future defined by peace, progress, and shared prosperity,” Atuma said.
