APC Chieftain Trains Youth Referees In Ondo Community

The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Hon. Adeola Taoheed Musa has sponsored referee training for 26 youths in Owo Local Government Area of the state.

Musa, who is an aspirant for the Owo Constituency II seat in the State House of Assembly, said the gesture demonstrated his commitment to youth empowerment in the council area.

The initiative, carried out in collaboration with the Owo Zonal Football Council, he said aimed to equip participating youths with the technical knowledge and practical skills required to become professional football referees.

At the end of the training programme, Musa popularly known as ATM, an acronym for his name said the participants are expected to obtain certification that would qualify them to officiate local and state football matches.

Speaking on the initiative, Musa emphasized that his political philosophy is centered on people first, noting that meaningful development begins with empowering young people with opportunities and skills that can create sustainable livelihoods.

According to him, the referees’ training programme is designed to provide a viable career path for youths in the community.

By becoming certified referees, Musa said the beneficiaries would be able to earn income through officiating football matches across local and state competitions.

He further noted that the programme will not only help participants support their university education and personal development but will also contribute to reducing youth unemployment and social challenges within the community.

Musa reaffirmed his belief that together the people can make a difference, adding that his aspiration is to bring a new voice for a better future that prioritizes youth development, sports advancement, and community progress.

The initiative has been widely commended by stakeholders in the sports community, who described it as a practical step toward promoting grassroots sports development and empowering young talents in Owo Local Government Area.
