…Urge Public Cooperation
Oyo State Police Command on Saturday announced comprehensive security arrangements across the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Easter celebration for all residents.
In a press statement issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, it was said that the Command had deployed strategic and intelligence-led measures in line with the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, to strengthen public safety and boost citizens’ confidence.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, while congratulating Christians on the occasion of Easter, urged residents to reflect the teachings of Jesus Christ by embracing love, sacrifice, humility, and peaceful coexistence. He also encouraged citizens to use the period to pray for peace, unity, and national progress.
He reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property before, during, and after the festivities, noting that security operatives have been deployed to key locations across the state, including worship centres, recreational facilities, major highways, and other public spaces.
According to him, the Command is working closely with other security agencies to ensure maximum coverage and effective coordination throughout the celebration period.
He also stressed the importance of community participation in maintaining security, calling on residents to cooperate with law enforcement by providing timely and credible information. To him, effective policing depends largely on public support and intelligence sharing.
Residents were advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through designated emergency channels.
The Command also expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for his continued support, which it said has enhanced operational effectiveness in the state.
